Those were the days.

Those were the days... wie kent het liedje en de tekst niet. Het is juist die tekst waaraan ik onmiddelijk moest denken toen ik deze foto zag. Drie vriendinnen staan aan zee denkend dat hun vriendshap en de mooie tijd nooit voorbij zal gaan. Helaas worden we allemaal volwassen met ups en down in ons leven maar hopelijk hebben we niet al onze dromen uit die tijd verloren.

De stofjes en kantjes heb ik allemaal een rose verfbad gegeven. Was na al die pagina's van mijn journal toe aan een lief kleurtje. Voor de achterkant heb ik een boek cover gebruikt en een hangertje om alles aan op te hangen.



Those were the days... Who doesn't know the songtekst and melody of this song?? When i saw this photo i immediately thought of that song and melody. Three girls so young and full of dreams about the future. We all grow up with our ups and downs in life. But hopefully never lose all of our dreams. After my journal i wanted to make something cute and sweet. I painted all the fabric and lace pink and used a book cover for the back and a small iron hanger to complete it.

FINALLY!!!

Eindelijk is het boek dan af!!!!!!!!! Ben hier vanaf half februari mee bezig geweest en het was best een klus. De technieken die ik hier in gebruik heb liggen ver buiten mijn comfort zone. Maar dankzij de goede informatie die ik gekregen heb tijdens de workshop van Nellie Wortman is het me dan toch gelukt. Er zijn momenten gewees dat ik echt aan mezelf getwijfeld heb of het ooit af zou komen. Moest mezelf echt verbieden om aan iets anders te beginnen. Dan was het in de hoek van onafgemaakte projecten gekomen haha. Ben er dan ook echt blij mee dat het gelukt is. Ik heb hier een kleine indruk gegeven van de inhoud van het book. Mochten jullie echt meer willen zien stuur dan even een mailtje.

Finally finnish this book. I started the book half Fabruary and must say it was a lot of work far outside my comfort zone. Never thought that i ever accomplish it. But i did and must say i'm proud of it.

Na een lange tijd weer een berichtje.

Jeetje wat is dat een tijd geleden dat ik hier een berichtje schreef. Ik ben de laatste tijd ook niet echt bezig met mijn hobby. Niet omdat ik niet zou willen maar helaas heb ik nog steeds geen mogelijkheid. Ben nu al maanden bezig met mijn fabric book en het is nu bijna klaar. De basis is gelegd, nu nog wat journaling, de finishing touch als knoopjes, hier en daar nog wat kleur en de voorkant afmaken. En dan .... inbinden. Zal nog wel een toer worden want de dikte van het book is een beetje uit de hand gelopen. Het is zo'n 10 cm dik. Hierbij vast een kleine collage van de binnenkant. Totaal zijn het zo'n 40 pagina's geworden gevuld met stof, papier, verf en houtskool.




Wow.. it is long ago since the last message. My health is still very bad. I only work on the "good" days. But never mind my fabric book is still growing. I'm finally ready with the base. Now i have to finish it with some button, journaling, color and ofcourse the front page. And than..... bind it. That will take some time i think cause the book is very bulky...and 40 pages. Filled with fabric, lace, paper, and paint.

Gifts from a dear friend.

Last week the postman brought me a big box Denmark. It came from my blogger friend Dorthe. She owns a most friendly and beautiful blog named the Den Lille Lade. On her blog you will find the most beautiful art handmade by her. Look at the pictures and you see why i was very happy that day.
A nice smelling lavender heart made with lovely fabrics and textures.


On the heart a, for me, a very special quote.


That as not all she send me one of her beautiful driftwood angels. Only Dorthe can make them like that i think!! All those delicate fabrics!!

French Envelop

Deze enveloppe heb ik gemaakt voor een blogger vriendin. Ik ben nog steeds bezig met mijn fabric book maar moet af en toe, als ik geen inspiratie meer heb, even iets anders doen. Dit was net even zo'n leuk "tussendoor" projektje.

Hier ben ik mee bezig // On my desk

Ik ben al een tijdje bezig met de Workshop van Nellie Wortman. Beetje bij beetje begint het nu een fabric book te worden. Ik ben zo blij dat ik weer wat onderhanden heb en doe het dan ook heeeeeel rustig aan.
Ik denk dat dit the cover gaat worden.

A little while ago i signed up for the fabric book workshop from Nellie Wortman. Here are some impression from my efforts to make one. Still doing it very slowly but i'm so happy to create something again. Love the workshop.
I think this will be the cover of my book. Can change my mind ofcourse.

Mijn kleindochter/my granddaughter

Ze is afgelopen zaterdagochtend, na een spannend weekje voor mijn dochter en schoonzoon, 1,5 week te vroeg geboren maar kern gezond en prachtig mooi. OK.. ik ben een beetje bevooroordeeld haha.

My youngest granddaughter. Born last saturday, a little bit to early, but healthy and beautifull. We are soooo proud of her and her parents.

Tag Tuesday front and back.

Deze week bezig geweest met een tag voor de Tag Tuesday challenge. Heb al zo'n lange tijd geen tag meer gemaakt en toch vind ik het altijd heel leuk om te doen. Het thema van deze week is voorkant en achterkant doorlopend. Ik heb het kant en de stofjes door laten lopen. De voorkant is een soort mailart en de achterkant memories.



For a long time i didn't participate at a challenge. But this weeks theme at Tag Tuesday challenge was to make a tag and include the front and the back. I loved that and made this tag , include the lace on the front and the back. Both sides have different themes. Front is mailart and back is memories.

Nog een Theemuts / And another tea cozy

Helemaal verslingerd aan de theemutsen ben ik op het ogenblik. Allerlei modellen zitten er in mijn hoofd. Deze is heel erg vintage geworden met oud kant, zijde en de zilveren lepeltjes. Voor mijn dochter ben ik een zwart wit ruitje aan het maken past beter bij haar interieur.



On this moment i'm totally addicted to tea cozies. This one is made from old lace, silk,old emphemera and some antique teaspoons. I'm busy with one for my daughter but than much more modern black and white.

Nu ik niet meer zoveel tijd kan besteden aan mijn hobby ben ik op zoek naar andere bezigheden. Mijn man en ik gaan er nu veel op uit o.a. lekker een dagje markten op de Albert Cuyp in Amsterdam. Een walhalla voor een stofjes freak zoals ik. Tijdens een van de vele theedrink middagjes met mijn vriendin kwam ik op het idee om een nieuwe theemuts te maken. Het meeste werk heb ik op mijn borduurmachine gedaan. Ben er ruim een week aan bezig geweest maar hier is hij dan een nieuwe theemuts met een frans tintje... Haha ik ben er blij mee.
